Can I Get Ms Word For Mac To Spell Check Koine Greek

Joe's suggestion to use character styles for Greek can be very useful as well since if you use that for all Greek text, then Word will actually be able to spell-check long documents with large quantities of Greek text since the style can specify that it not be spell checked.

Dec 31, 2011  Koine Greek is the language of the New Testament and the symbols for the alphabet are very different than English symbols. I don't know how the Greek symbol options in input sources compare but I'll surely try that! When I was using Word in my Windows computer there was a specific font listed as Koine Greek. That font does not show up in Word for Mac. You can simply select greek before spell checking, and your spell check will run in Greek. These settings are found under the 'Language' tab if you click 'Details'. The main dialog is found under Regional and Language Options as mentioned in my original reply.

Also: In Word> Preferences> Spelling & Grammar, make sure the box labeled 'Hide spelling errors in this document' is UNchecked (and ditto for the similar box for grammar). You might also click the Check Document button while there, then recheck the spelling. It's possible that during a previous spell check the Ignore/Ignore All option was used. I am in a situation to edit a Manual which has got more Greek terms. I am quite sure about the spellings given in that manual are correct. What all I need is to check grammar alone. But while checking the grammar by F7, spellings are also checked which is unnecessary for me, and it takes lot of time. I think there is an option in Microsoft word to check the grammar ignoring spelling mistakes. Does anyone know how to do grammar check ignoring spelling mistakes in Microsoft Word?

Sorry to bother you but we use ms word 2011 for mac to produce a very large document and when when use ‘ignore' or 'ignore all' on thousands of marked as misspelled terms they are always again marked as spelling errors when we reopen the doc in a new session. Surely there must be a way to way to use ignore and ignore all that actually means that, so it is recorded for the life of the doc, not just one session, which is frankly useless; and the language ignore setting does work as it means marking thousands of words individually. Thank u [New question split by moderator from a different question about spell checking].
